New in our range - Magnetic workpiece carrier plates for machining indexable inserts

Today, large quantities of indexable inserts are refined in the award-winning batch machines of René Gerber AG. The cutting tools are placed on workpiece carrier plates in specifically manufactured masks, which provide the parts with a lateral hold during the machining process.

Unfortunately, it can occasionally happen that indexable inserts lose its grip during the machining process, detach from the mask, and fall out. Process uncertainty and unwanted scrap can be the result. Thus, some customers have gone over to coating the plates with Vaseline or silicone to achieve better adhesion but being neither ecological nor economical we do not recommend it.

René Gerber AG now uses the slightly magnetic properties of the insert to achieve the highest possible quality in the machining process with a new workpiece carrier solution - our magnetic workpiece carrier plates.

These are manufactured in-house in a complex process. They have a diameter of 120mm but can be built with other diameters on request to be compatible with other fixture sizes. The workpiece carrier plate is equipped with over 70 neodymium magnets. The close pole pitch of the many small magnets generates a strong magnetic field that magnetically fixes the tools to be machined.

The process reliability as well as the reproducibility of the high-quality parts are significantly increased. Scrap is minimized. Tedious removal of Vaseline or silicone residues is eliminated. The magnetic workpiece carrier plates are not a standard design but are ideally suited for machining slightly magnetic inserts. They are compatible with all batch machines with plate diameters of 120 mm (other sizes also available on request).
